Home / Environment / Mijas
The history of Mijas goes back very far as determined by remains found in the village. Tamisa was the name given to Mijas by the Romans. Other cultures have also contributed to its heritage such as the Muslims and Hispanogoths.
In the central area of the municipality, the Fuengirola River valley, the golf courses emerge next to the small farm holds.
The coast is mainly dedicated to tourism with holiday complexes built around the coves and beaches.
